What adorns your monitor?

It's Friday, I Have been having a clear out, but before I bin it all I thought I'd share what useless tat has been perched upon my monitor for the last two years. It is starting to resemble a car bootsale up-there.

*A seventies styled calendar - Spherical silver and black that clicks over in a groundhog-day-esque manner each day.

*A 1/2 pound steel Karabiner (used as paper weight - No air-con so the fans kick up a boisterous zephyr in the summer)

*A Porsche 550a Spider (miniature!)

*My name plate - pre requiste where I work.

*A Miniature 'Cartman' figure complete with blue tac horns

*A 1970's postcard print of DR NO. James Bond Movie Poster - (not the best Bond by far but a cool postcard!)

*Half a dozen post-it notes; 3 permanent - with phone numbers, hexi-refs for my most favoured colours, and HTML/CSS references.

*And the oddest aquisition - a toffee scorpion - which is a bar of clear orange toffee with, you guessed it, a scorpion imbedded in it. Looks like an amber fossil and no less appetising.

So have what you got gathering dust? Are you Clean living minimalist or Mucky Pup Squirrel?

I guess, I am boring too.

I usually keep the pile of junk on my phone, so I can get some real work done. :)

How exactly did you fit all of that stuff on your monitor?

I have a freebie baseball cap perched on top of my files, and even that keeps falling off.

I dare you to eat the scorpion ;)

I have a big Monitor. :)

I dare you to eat the scorpion

Two words: - absolutely not a chance on earth that I am chewing that bloody thing. (two words wasn't enough!)

Anyway - I've junked most of it now, and I have to say I feel a little naked. ;)

Peweter figures of djinni, dragons, and castles.
A castle made of sand.
A glass cat hanging its paw over the top of the monitor.
Glasses, and glass case.

Copies of receipts I need to add as business expenses.

On Monday, 30+ post-its.
On Friday, those 5 post-its that have been there for 2+ months as they stay on 'the list', just not done.

Copy of todays "The Times", a kinder egg toy (a dog that moves it's tail when you roll it - called snuffled!), a penguin (company unofficial mascot), sunglasses case with €1.38 in small change, my last pubcon badge, a frog that doubles as a paperweight, and 8 post-its. Oh, and a beer (hey, it's Friday!)

I have the secret margarita recipe from my favorite mexican restaurant which is written on the back of a receipt stuck to my monitor... It makes a huge quantity of industrial strength margaritas.

An LGM sticker from Toy Story (thanks to my son)

A Figment figurine from Disney.

Only one sticky note... today.

grelmar: did you get the set of Captain Underpants books with the whoopie cushion? ;)

Sticky notes won't stick to my monitor :( I wonder why this is?

I always end up having to stick them on with sellotape which rather defeats the purpose.

But monitor is no excuse. ;)
Mine is big too, but I can't fit anything on it. It can barely collect dust! :o
Then again, I guess the fact of it being a flat screen has something to do with it ;)

I do have something on it though -- a miniature viking. Double-sided tape required to keep him from falling off

...secret margarita recipe ... huge quantity of industrial strength margaritas.

OK. Time to share. :)

Sticky notes don't stick to my monitor either... but on top I have a set of inspirational notecards in a business-card holder, a foam stress-squeeze ball shaped like a brain, and a pink plastic brain with a green parasite thing stuck to it.

On the front I have a glass-tape-laminated copy of all the addresses and phone numbers for our company's three offices, a taped-on printout of some codes I need to remember for the shopping cart software, and a doctor's appointment reminder.

I have the sticker that came with it still on it. I'm still waiting till the glue on the back of it's blackish-green and the edgest are yellowish-orange and curling.

That's it.

However, the bookshelf to my left is more like a garbage can.

I don't have anything as imaginative as a "pink plastic brain with a green parasite thing stuck to it." ... just a really cool miniature replica of the Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria.

OK ... so I have sterotyped myself. So what? Its what I like!

A PostIt with a deep breathing relaxation exercise a friend sent me...

- inhale
- hold
- exhale up spine

- inhale
- hold
- exhale up spine

etc....

It's helpful, when I remember to look at it.

Wow, what a great idea!
I never thought of stashing junk on top of the monitor, that would leave me room elsewhere for more important junk. (dreams)
Thanx folks........ ;)

Yup - my granddaughters (living in Germany since 1994, and never coming home far as I know) have adored them since day one..... their windowsills are carpeted in the toys....

I keep all my stuff in front of my monitor. Dilbert Google mug (need a logo by Friday), picture with niece in frame made by niece, empty chai tea pouch (still smells good), a Baden-Powell bobble head, that google badge they passed out at pubcon orlando (with the batteries removed permanently), some business cards from pubcon orlando, a dried flower (?), six CD's I burned but don't remember what's on any of them (and never labeled them), lol ... I'd go on but my desk is really cluttered with about a hundred other random items! Although I have just been inspired to make a comprehensive list at some point. :D

My monitor [apple.com] does not suit itself well to having anything on it. Everything keeps falling off! ;)
