Looking for software to do what?

If you are looking into changing format from say .avi to .mpg, TMPGEnc (look them up with Google) has trial software available for download.

im looking for a simple dvd player, that just plays dvd's on a laptop - dont need to convert or edit them just need to play! but i dont want to have to pay or trial!

must be something basic out there freely available!

any other options?
i dont need fancy it needs to run on winodws 2000, otherwise id just install windows media player but it doesnt support dvd play on 2000 only xp!
