It looks like it rotates but only to 90 degrees.
7:04 pm on Apr 17, 2004 (gmt 0)
Well it's got me.
Does it require electrical power?

There are numerous parts on this that can be adjusted. I believe the main part can move at least 90 degrees
And this machine does require electricity to work properly.

It's a Mark IV Invader Brain Scanner. I had one done in the early 70's but they didn't find anything.

not a brain scanner or involve sound (noise).

. . . or, the prototype floating head base drum. Notice the cymbal on the side.

Surely you have at least one brain cell?

Surely you have at least one brain cell? You do know my occupation, don't you? ;)

Lawman, I belive that "cymbal" is actually used for prescise adjustment.
TJ, nice one.

Yeah but I'm in the same profession so don't expect me to be able to count.

Not a musical instrument.

Not sure on your definition of small, but those are indeed lights.

7:23 pm on Apr 17, 2004 (gmt 0)
Are the coils there for positioning the lights?
7:24 pm on Apr 17, 2004 (gmt 0)
It is not specifically designed for photography, but often there are minature cameras involved.
7:25 pm on Apr 17, 2004 (gmt 0)
I believe the lights do move on the silver guides (coils)
7:28 pm on Apr 17, 2004 (gmt 0)
Does the electric power do anything other than just power the lights?

>It is not specifically designed for photography
Used for some kind of examination?
7:31 pm on Apr 17, 2004 (gmt 0)
The power is only for the the lights (all seven of them).
The hoops(guides/coils), are manually adjusted.
7:33 pm on Apr 17, 2004 (gmt 0)
I would say more of testing/simulating than examination.
7:43 pm on Apr 17, 2004 (gmt 0)
Is that a table in the center?
7:45 pm on Apr 17, 2004 (gmt 0)
Yes, that is a table in the center. You can also adjust the angle of it. You would set the object you would want to test on it.

If anyone cares, it uses:
MR-16 halogen lamps, seven of them.

Allright no one has replied in about 45 minutes, so I am saying the quiz is going to be paused. It is way to nice to be indoors today.
If anyone else wants to run it I will give you the product URL. Just send me a sticky.

I'm thinking this thing mimics the sun and shows how the shadows will fall during the day?
