when I open up more than five windows, they come together as a group on the toolbar....how do I stop this and keep them as individual windows as it was on win98?

Right click the toolbar, choose Properties, choose the Taskbar tab, uncheck Group similar taskbar buttons.

A question about the thread title: does the adjective "silly" belong to the word "question" or to "windows xp"?
;)

I think it refers to the XP interface where half of the screen is taken up by the brightly-colored toolbars and titlebars. Are we in kindergarten? :)

should have put silly before brackets so as to have it refer to both xp AND the question
BTW, for all those Italian students out there, "Raggruppa Pulsanti" was the key expression which I was skimming over without realising what it was. Silly really. Me, that is.
