REDMOND, WA - Software giant Microsoft today announced plans to further venture into the hardware arena as it unveiled its new MS HyperDrive dense-field data storage device. Microsoft engineers claim that the device can actually read data before it is written.

"We believe that this product is probably as important as Windows 98 Second Edition was" said Bill Gates, the company's founder and chief software architect. "The HyperDrive ushers in an incredible era in terms of productivity. Imagine being able to read tomorrow's sales figures today, and then being able to act upon them ahead of time?"

Key members of the HyperDrive development team were on hand and provided some more specific details.

"Right now we have achieved a precog speed of about 250 milliseconds" said project leader Iam Kidding. "But we have been making rapid advances and expect to achieve precogs in the 1 to 2 second range within the next few months. At that point, advances should come very rapidly as we will begin using the HyperDrive on our project computers. After that, the sky's the limit!"

Shaped like a PEZ dispenser, the HyperDrive is light weight and consumes very little power. Microsoft says they expect the HyperDrive will be available to OEMs and consumers in the third quarter of this year.

being able to read tomorrow's sales figures today

Technically impossible... or not... it could be possible... if the future can be viewed
Will it work with a tarot deck? ;)
I'm begin to be tired of this kind of lies... ¿does somebody actually believe them?

Wow! I guess I was a fool ;)
Such unreal fiction was believable... It's not difficult to expect that absurdity from ms...

That's a gaff that's been floating around, on and off, for years.

Probably manufactured using a derivative of resublimated thiotomoline.

Two weeks?

Wow, must have been late shipping them. Mine arrived before I was born.

It's only sensible if they use Quantum to send the information (our silly laws of physics, etc. don't apply in Quantum), and then if they could get it back into this dimension, then it'd come back looking like what you'd see if you tried opening Photoshop in Windows Wordpad. Just like if you send a rock through quantum, it'll come back as a different shape.

But, more importantly, is it compatible with my flux capacitor?

Ok, Hyperdrive, CHECK

Infinite Improbability Drive, CHECK

Now all I need is a good source of Brownian Motion, and me and Trillian are gonna blow this popsicle stand!

Anyone got a nice hot cup of tea?

Don't forget to put your helmets on so the aliens can't read your thoughts.

I thought it was kitchen foil in your shoes that was supposed to deal with that problem?

To be safe, you should have a helmet, with a tinfoil helmet on it, and tinfoil in your shoes, and gloves made of rabbit hide, and pierce your eyebrow and hang a picture of yourself wearing the same thing in the picture, on it.
