Today's Gizmo [galagalaxia.com]

You don't need to find the exact URL, but I want you to tell me what this particular gizmo is, what it is part of (the name of it), and who invented it.

> Large outdoor game

It is an outdoor game... As for whether it's large or not -- it's played on an area that is about 30×25' (10×8m)

I have another funny [galagalaxia.com] prepared for you.

Not cathedral

funny [galagalaxia.com]

Hint #2

This is an old game, invented by an old people. The thing on the left is the "King", which is placed in the center of the playing area.

So, that brings us down to needing only the name of the game, and the people who invented it :)

msg #33, 35, 36:

"its viking"
"made by kubb"
"and the piece is the king"

While "kubb" is not who it's made by, you still got the name of the game right first. So, I think lgn1 is the winner.

But, SuzyUK got the whole thing right just a second later... so you can be the backup host for next week?

Yes definitely ign1's game

I seem to be a time delay here and I just presumed the name of the game was the inventors name ;)

Wow! I never would have gotten that. Congrats!

Arrrgh! Just shoot me if I ever use Google again for a gizmo quiz. Had to wade through pages and pages and pages of spammy SERPs for just about any variation of "outdoor wood game set" I tried. First time I ever used the "Help us improve" link.

I played kubb for the first time last summer and it was great fun. You can imagine it as being a bit like petanque but with wooden sticks and blocks instead of balls. The main advantage is that you can play it on your garden lawn or any other surface. Definitely an enjoyable pastime after the weekend BBQ...
