Google translating from English to English...

If a page has some French text on it, Google often gives the option to translate the page to English. Our sitemap contains lots of French place names but is part of an English-language site. Some of the more interesting corruptions are as follows:

Ille-et-Vilaine --> Ille-and-unpleasant

Chablis --> Windfallen Wood

Brive-la-Gaillarde --> Brive-the-strapping-woman

Grasse --> Fatty

Midi-Pyrenees --> The Midday Pyrenees

Cher --> Expensive

Eure-et-Loir --> Eure-and-dormouse

therefore...

Loir-et-Cher --> Dormouse-and-expensive (obviously)

Isn't Google great?!

Perhaps you should optimise for search terms like "unpleasant" or "expensive"? ;)

ahhh...

Now then, anyone know of a good affiliate program for unpleasant yet expensive things? Might get a decent commission, even if the CTR is likely to be pretty shocking...
