Sorry, i hate bad news too. However, reality hit me last week - tomorrow (12 hours from now) i gonna accompany my mum to take her first Chemotherapy session (of six over the next 18 weeks) to fight recently detected lymph node cancer. 4 hours of healing poison injection. There's a 60-70% healing chance. 30 years too young to die - she just had her 65th birthday. I feel like i'd get the injection myself. We don't know what to expect. I will stay with her and hope/help that she'll don't suffer too much. Would you mind giving her a short prayer?

You members helped me so much times in the past ...
It'd be a shame if i wouldn't request your help in this case too!

Please help again! Thanks!

Yidaki,
I am still pretty new here, but just found this thread. Around 30 years ago my mother was diagnosed with lymph cancer. The doctor gave her 3 years to live. She lived another 7 years, outliving the doctor in the process. And she died of an accident, not lymph cancer.

As I went through those years with her she definitely taught me that attitude is all important. Since none of us have any guarantees on length of life, it is best to make the most of the present, at all times.

I have always loved what my father often said. "I want to give people their flowers while they are alive to enjoy them, not wait until they are gone!" So make the most of the present and hopefully you will be able to have many many more "present moments" with your mother. My prayers are with you.

Yidaki,

My prayers to you and your Mom too. My best friend, substitute Mom, is going through some sort of cancer treatment too, and I know what you're feeling.

I hope my prayers help you.

Joining late, I add my best wishes to you and your mother.

The mother of a friend of mine in college had breast cancer, and she decided she was going to fight it with everything she had. She shaved her head and got a funky wig. After it was all over, and she was recovered and healed and stronger than ever, she gave the wig to a drag-queen friend, much to his pleasure.

I like the idea of the hats. You seem to be approaching this with the right attitude, anyway!

So, best of luck.

Just to let you people know. I won't post again about my mother's illness until she's - hopefully - cured. I just post this to let you know that she's still fighting - now lying in hospital after a heavy virus - but things are always up and down. Currently there's a small up. I'm heavily trying to return to life myself since i don't want to go mad about all these doctors and stuff.

I won't post further updates since i don't want to make you sad. Foo is Foo and Foo is Fun. So this is not the best topic for Foo.

However, a huge Thank You all for your amazing comments and very helpfull and warm words! I'll post the results in a few months - whether they'll be good or bad.

Thanks friends!

F'n cancer!

It just seems that treatment isn't what it should be. The success (cure) rate should be much higher.

Fwiw, I wish it would be. It's the most aggressive form of lymph node cancer (2 cases of 30.000, location: upper jaw). She's with the best specialists we can get - a Competence Center for lymph node cancer ...

Yidaki,

I believe that having lots of people think about something, your mother in this case, often works in good ways. Most of us are busy people and may forget since we don't know you or your mother personally. Please, keep us updated once in awhile. Warm and healing thoughts to you both.

I hope your mom can endure. My mom's friend is probably going to die from cancer, and with the dread I feel about that, I can hardly imagine what you're going though...

I can't exactly pray, since I'm athiest, but I'll go against my beliefs and send my prayers to your mom. Good luck.

Echo that...still in our thoughts here, don't know how or if it helps but there's lots of positive vibes heading to you and your mom.

I wish your mother well, Yidaki.

It may be some comfort to you to know that others here have been through the same thing. Be strong - you're not alone :)

Thanks again to all for your kind words and prayers!

One important wish though:
Please do NOT send me any more sticky mails about possible treatments, curing drugs or alternative medicine! Furthermore i don not want to receive any more studies, tests, concepts or anything else that might confuse and mislead me more than i already am!

I truly thank those who sent me stickies as i'm sure they did this with the best motives in mind. But please accept my wish to not receive such stickies again.

Thanks!
