I bought 2 tickets three months ago. I could sell them now for $200 - $300, but no, I am going to Trilogy Tuesday with my husband.

Half day off work. A dozen calls to hobble together babysitting when my baby sitter canceled last minute. But I am going!

Wish me luck. 12 straight hours in the theater and I can not wait!

BTW, I know it's fellowship and not Lord but I was so excited I mistyped. :)

Have a good time.

> 12 straight hours in the theater

Triathlon for movie-goers! Comparable to a complete Nibelungen Ring, and indeed some people have pointed out the relations between Wagner's and Tolkien's ring-works.

Have you read the books? If not, then do so after seing the movies. I read them the first time more than 30 years ago and have re-read them several times since then.

And hear some Tolkien music. Quite a few musicians have let themselves be inspired by Tolkien. Some of this music is excellent.

<added>I hope that you will tell us about the experience when you come back and have had a rest.</added>

Definatly read the books and re-read them before the first movie came out. I'm a big fan but my husband is a HUGE fan.

5 hours and counting.

Read the books in 4 different languages :). Yes, I know I'm a freak, but it's a good way to learn a language. Oh, and as is to be expected, read it in the original, no translation comes near it.

Well I just got back from RotK at 4 AM. Wow it was long :)

The movie was very impressive. The parts that are included are represented quite well. Unfortunately if you have read the books many times like I have you will realize how many parts they are forced to leave out. I hope the extended version that is released will add in many more scenes.

Just back...

I hope you went to Valley View. That's the only theater around here I could even remotely stand being in for 12 hours. ;-)

Valley View it was. I don't think I could have lasted if it was anywhere else. Cinemark knows how to make a theater.

I have heard that Peter Jackson recalled the crew for extra scenes for the last extended version. Gotta wait a year for that though.

Saw it. It's great. Ok, I've missed a couple of things from the book, same as in the previous movies, but he books are simply impossible to shorten to three movies. But still, I think Jackson did the best adaptation that was imaginable.

Oh, and I want to try oliphaunt-surfing, too ;).

This is the best film that New Zealand has ever made!
I've already watched it - Its awesome!
Go Peter Jackson!
Though, I'm sad because there will be no 4th movie :(

Well, there IS a rumour that Jackson wants to do 'The Hobbit'.

Then he could go on with the Silmarillion :)

I'd like to see The Hobbit, but he could stop there. The Silmarillion is unfinished and was sort of fixed up by his son. I don't think it is as good as the others.

I hear that Jackson is currently working on King Kong.

One word - Awesome.

You wont regret the 2hr 58min that you spent on the theater wide-screen and THX. Pure Class.

I have to say that it is amazing, and extremely moving. Jackson really does move the focus onto the relationships rather than totally on the war, which in itself is brilliant. Suspense, fear ( the tunnel, how scary was that? ), relief ( the cavalry arrives ), it has it all.

Jacksons next movie is a remake of King Kong. Should be interesting.
