This is so cool as I have already solved one problem from this site. Can anybody tell me how to watch DVDs by running a line from my PC to my TV. Both my TV and video card support this (I am told)and I bought the S video cable. Expensive by the way. Thanks

Assuming that you have s-video output on your video card, isn't it just a simple matter of connecting that output to your TV and then the audio output from your sound card to the TV also (or, alternatively, computer to VCR then to TV if you don't have the right inputs on your TV)?

Hiya,

I ran the S video from the PC to the S input on the TV. I tried disconnecting the monitor and that gave me a wobbly and unusable shot of my current screen on WINDOWS. I ran the DVD and it didn't start (I don't think I would have been able to tell anyway). Somebody at work said it has something to do with refresh rates and what video input you have set on the TV, video 1 or 2. I tried the 2 different ones with no luck. I am not sure if you need audio input as you could listen off your PC, correct. Thanks for the reply.

I think you have to change your video card configuration to output the proper signal. On mine, there's a selection thing in the systray. You do need separate audio cables; s-video cables don't carry audio. Then I think you'd play the DVD full-screen on the computer and watch it on the TV.
