Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
System32\Drivers\isapnp.sys
I tried to get on recovery console in order to expand this file from the cab but when i got in the recovery console my 2 sata disks were not recognised and the only disk that i could see was the IDE disk.
Can anyone help me and tell me how can i see my sata disk on recovery console in order then to expand the isapnp.sys on the windows directory in order to solve the problem, because as everyone i want to avoid the format.
The other thought that i made is to install a windows partition on the IDE disk and then through windows move the files from the sata and reconfigure them from the beggining. Also when i tried to reinstall windows on the sata i didn't have an option to leave current changes and continue with installation of windows in order to overwright windows and try to solve the problem but only there was the option of format the sata disk.
Thanks for hearing me. Also is that caused because of a virus or it's windows problem. I have windows XP with SP1a.
P.S. does the sata disks have a problem with ntfs or it's better to format them with fat32. i believe that this is not as good as ntfs.
I appreciate any kind of advice!
You may be better off asking that question on a dedicated techie board given the nature of it :)
Seeing as you can see the IDE drive, have you tried setting your SATA drive up on an IDE cable (if the drive is compatible), disabling SATA in the BIOS and seeing if it will fire up? If so you'll be able to fix the offending file.
You say it happened after a couple of days - did you load any other software on the machine, like graphics drivers or anything?
I've not come across that problem before so off the top of my head I'm sorry I can't be more help.
Good luck,
2odd...
(Mind you there are NT floppy boot utilities around allowing you to boot into and NTFS from a floppy disk. I've got one somewhere so if you are unable to find anything - sticky me)

Also, if the SATA was in RAID, you could have lost the RAID information i.e. the array was reset, or lost. Go into your RAID BIOS and reconfigure your RAID array.
Thanks again for helping me!
