I have a offical team USA "Roots" fleece that athletes representing the US wore in the 2002 Olympics opening ceremony.

Upon closer inspection of the caretag, I see "Made in Canada".

lol.

Yep, known fact that provoked quite an uproar at the time. But if the Canadians can do it better and cheaper, why not?

Hmm, synergy, I think we should avoid posting in the same threads, the nicknames could confuse... ;)

Roots is a Canadian company and started making all of the gear for the Canadian Olympic team a few years back.

Last Olympics the hats and other paraphernalia became very popular, everybody seemed to love them, including the U.S. teams. So now, they copied us, save the colours, and the U.S. Olympic wear is made by Roots Canada, thankfully, in Canada.

I always belived that US labor was available at half the cost compared to Canada. How could I have been so wrong?

Funny side note, Sinner_G! I had to think about it twice before i noticed what you mean. Afaik you're not native english (like me) and your comment reminds me on my own attitute to read loud - only then you notice such things. Well, not really loud but - uhm hard to explain - if i'm not pro with a language i tend to try to imagine the sounding of what i read and write. So synergy = Sinner_G. Funny. (:
