I have to get near the national theatre on Sunday by car and I will be coming from Kent. What is the best way to proceed?

Drive into city and pay, bearing in mind that I dont really know "the smoke"?

Drive somewhere on the M25 south or east of London (going back up the M40) and catch some sort of train or tube?

Other?

Cheers

Where in Kent are you?

The train services from Charing Cross covers alot of the south and are very regular so park and ride might be a good bet.

From Charing Cross access to the theatre is easy - Infact on the Orpington/Sevenoaks line its stops at waterloo on the Southbank which is a stones throw away.

I would not drive - too much hassle and there is nothing to do in the interval ;)

Get a train to Charing cross and cross the river via the foot bridge to the south bank - Will add a extra bonus of good views of the london Eye and other Thames landmarks.

I am not sure if Bromley is on that the same line as Orpington but if it is get off at waterloo east and you can't miss the theatre.

Thanks for that.

I was hoping not to have to get a long train ride back out of London in the wrong direction as I was then going to go North afterwards.

Cheers

Oh - that puts a different spin on it.

However the train ride is only about twenty minutes (if you get the train that does not stop at every station on the way!)

I still wouldn't want to try to get to the Southbank and park without either:-

1 - a good knowledge of the area

or

2 - a good navigator ;)

- take a look at the National Theatre website - they might have parking?
