And recommendations for DVD's and PC/PS2 games? seeing as I have a £45 HMV voucher to spend. Woohoo!

I played Civilsation years ago and was addicted to the point of insomnia - will Civilsation III have the same effect?

YAAAAAAAAWN. Yes, it will.

If you like strategy games, you could try Zoo Tycoon or Masters of Orion.

SG

was that a yawn for sarcasm ;)? (ie you hated the game?) or a yawn because you have been up all night playing it?

I don't really like stratgey but Civ I got me hooked.

Well, it gets to the point where my only thought is whether I should produce more military units to destroy the opponents or if I should try to build that rocket :).

I loved version 1 and version 3 holds the same appeal. It still is the same game principle (never change a winning team) and I can't think of many improvements off-hand but the graphics.

Masters of Orion is very similar, except it is situated in space and you have to colonise planets. And you get to fight space combat yourself, which I like better than the way it is handled in Civ.

Put it this way, CIV3 is a very dangerous game to start playing, I fear reinstalling it.

Just one more turn...

I play Civilization II still and I bought and tried Civ III and simply couldn't get into it. So I continue to play Civ II. I hear it's a great game, tho (just, at all costs, avoid Call to Power).

I fear reinstalling it.

About 7 years ago I was playing Civ II so much that I had to (literally) uninstall it and snap the CD in half. I'm better at time management these days and I think I'm on my 3rd CD (tho I have yet to play multiplayer due to timing).

just play america's army, which is free, then spend the money on dvd's :)

it is the best game i've ever played, slowly losing my life to it.

I'm something like an expert in American McGee's Alice.
