I was just wanting to hop onto msn chat for a little bit, and have found out that you have to pay for it now! Who would pay for a chat room?

I'm not surprised they made that move. I like to spend a little time in their gaming rooms - quite a good crib player actually. They changed the gaming rooms to look just like a cheesy chat room... pick your text color and font, hundreds of emitcoms.
