I love scifi. This is my rating on a scale of one to 5 stars:

Red Dwarf: *****

Farscape: *****

Enterprise (trek): ****

STNG (trek): ****

DS9 (trek): *** 1/2

Star Trek (Orig.): ***

Blake's 7: **

Dr Who: ** (sorry, but as much as I try most of these are unwatchable as an adult)

Stargate SG1: * 1/2 (i understand that it got better, but I have only ever seen the first season - hey I live in Mexico, give me a break)

Voyager (trek): * 1/2

Battlestar Galactica (Orig.): * 1/2

Buck Rogers (TV series): *

Okay who did I leave out?

How do you rate your Sci Fi TV?

Oldies:
--------------
Would "The Prisoner" qualify as sci-fi?

Real Oldies:
-------------
Anyone remember Science Fiction Theater? (you'd have to be OLD!) Or "Tom Corbett, Space Cadet"

If you're my age you gotta remember the day when you first heard that George Reeves killed himself. Superman.

Hey, you brought up Buck Rogers!

In those days, you watched the show on Saturday, bought the cereal, then sent in for your secret decoder ring. We had LOTS of cereal in our house!

You forgot the best of all (unless SciFi is only about space travel and aliens to you):

Max Headroom

Plus:

Twilight Zone
Outer Limits

SciFi is not my preferred genre though. Prefer Fantasy/Horror series.

I know the first three of your list but the last one is new to me ... why did you rate it as last in your scifi list?

All the Star Trek series are loaded with inconsistencies and things that I cannot just blindly accept. Still, on average, I give them all three stars.

Babylon 5, with it's pulp fiction look and feel to it, was much more believable to me since it was not set too far in the future. It too was loaded with inconsistencies but I'll also give it three stars.

Does anyone wonder why Enterprise has encountered aliens we never saw mentioned in any of the other "later" series? That's the main problem I have with that show.

Lost in Space - Mr. Smith was a classic character: "We're doomed! We're doomed!"

I used to love "Land of the Giants" when I was a kid, but I haven't watched the show since the original broadcasts, so I can't vouch for it.

Yeah. I think they are "explaining" that with the temporal cold war - the future is changing the past - that's why they're in "The Expanse" now - they are changing the timeline.

Not saying that it is a good idea - in terms of keeping consistent to the franchise. But still, Enterprise beats Voyager - I didn't even watch it after the first season or so.

The interesting thing about Lexx (the real one, not the heavily edited, basically nonsensical one they show in the US on the Sci-Fi channel) is that it's from the same guy who did:

Nekromantik 1 & 2
Der Todesking
Schramm

and tons of other great stuff that almost got him imprisoned in Germany.

Farscape: *****

Ah, Farscape, let me get out my soapbox...

I miss Farscape... I miss that there are no new eps coming (for now) I hate the fact that it was interrupted and left with an unsolved cliff hanger. I hate the fact that a 5th season was promised then stealthily cancelled. You might guess that my opinion of the Sci-Fi channel is rather low. I've watched every episode, have tapes, DVD's and did you know there's an active campaign to bring the show back? At savefarscape.com

Stargate: *** It's just a bit too predictable for me.

Battlestar (Orig.): **** (way back when, now? good question)
what about what sci-fi is doing with their "re-imagining" Starbuck as a woman - what?! :o

Never much of a Trek fan, although I'll watch it on occasion. Didn't do much Bab5 either.

>>Would "The Prisoner" qualify as sci-fi?

Yes, I count it as being more scifi than anything, and one of the best.

>>Dr. Who

The cheaper the sets the better it was. ;)

I would agree with most of those already listed and add:

Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea - loved that flying sub as a kid. I learned that a CO2 fire extinguisher was better against monsters than a .45 :)

Thunderbirds - Gerry Anderson's best.
Captain Scarlet - also by Gerry Anderson

Hmmm..so limited lately.

I tried not to get into FireFly cause I knew it would be short lived. Is it me or do sci-fi tv series just don't make it anymore. *grumble...darn reality tv*

I liked all the treks, but Voyager over DS9. I just wasn't into Bajoran mysticism all that much. Although the episode with Amelia Earhart had to have been the absolute worst of the series.

Twilight Zone STILL gives me shivers 40 years later.

I always thought Battlestar Gallactica was dumb. Lorne Greene? And Space1999 was even worse. Who gave Martin Landau an Oscar? Good Grief!

I liked Seaquest. Never did see Alien Nation. (didn't have Fox back then).

As a kid I liked V.

I'm liking the new season of Enterprise. Finally some action. The first season was OK, but #2 was dull. Still, it's the same old stories rehashed and recast and twisted barely enough to make a new episode.

AND if Archer and the temporal cold war are going to reshape the time line, does that explain why in all the later (earlier) treks, we never heard about the Xindi killing 7 million people on earth and cutting a swath through Florida? Perhaps that never happened.

And if that never happened, perhaps I'm not really writing this response to a sci-fi thread. Maybe, the thread doesn't exist at all. Or maybe it will exist later. Or earlier.

As Janeway said once - Temporal mechanics always gives me headaches.

My favorite Red Dwarf quote:

"Anything that doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Unless it bites your legs off, in which case it just makes you shorter."

I use that one ALL THE TIME.

Millennium
X-Files
Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Firefly could've been a contender, had the network let it stay on.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Could we agree on a definition of SciFi? By mine, Buffy definitely is no SciFi (although I love the show).

Anyone (probably french speaking) who remembers Albator, San Ku Kai and Ulysse 31?
