I wanna buy Looksmart but need some capital. So I need some others to come onboard with and stump up some cash. We'd also need to do the deal before M$ buys them...

Those interested leave me a note here...

I was kidding above, of course.

/me learns that he should not try and inject humour in an already humourous thread, because he's not funny. ;-)

I have a two-for-one Happy Meal voucher (redeemable for 0.01 pence cash). Is that enough for a controlling share in Looksmart UK?

Dammit! You made me spill my coffee. LOL.

I've got an old One Pound note I've been trying to get rid of, for that I want to introduce a new submission process, it's called 'Granny Trade' - a less scammy approach than what presently exists.

Basically, you have to sell LookDumb your Grandma in order to get a crappy listing. Then with all the Grandma's we get, we send them round to Inktomi's place to nick $0.15 for every clickthrough that we've tracked from their database.

NB. sub 'tracked' for 'exploited'

Let's be realistic folks,
If we raise a few more cents we will probably have enough to buy looksmart.
But on the realistic side, it would cost so much money to fix it, "especially the public image", that i think we should just take the money we have raised...
and PAY somebody to haul it off...

I got some Nepali currency floating around, and some Thai Bhat ;) I can donate that to the cause. Between the two, I think they exchange for almost 1 USD - but it's exotic, so it should count for more :)

I vote Jeremy for Chairman given the injection of the exotic into LookDumb. Can I have a second please?

I'll chip in a fiver on condition that I personally get the job of firing whoever made the decision to rip everyone off

Maybe they weren't really ripping anyone off. Maybe they were just redistributing income to the less well off. :)

You're right lawman, they're all heart and we've all grown too cynical. Whoever made that decision is the Mother Teresa of the internet. :)

If you clowns actually do buy looksmart, (personally, I think the deal will get done soon) you can start by giving me a $299.00 refund.

You're at the top of the list. We'll need the name on your credit card, the account number, the expiration date, and that little 3 digit number on the back. Feel free to post the info in this thread.

I AM VERY FORTUNATE THAT MY LATE FATHER HAS LEFT ME A LARGE SUM OF FUNDS ON HIS DEMISE. I WOULD BE VERY HAPPY TO REIMBURSE YOU THE SUM OF 25% OF THIS FUNDS (TWO HUNDRED SQUILLION US DOLLARS) WHICH WOULD GIVE YOU THE SUM OF $50...000 (FIFTY SQUILLION DOLLARS) TO EFFECT YOUR PURCHASE OF THIS ENTERPRISE, IF YOU ARE WILLING TO HELP ME IN TRANSFERING THIS MONEYS OUT OF MY COUNTRY .

deejay's theme for the day; it's all TJ's fault - whoops.. scratch that - it's all IanTurner's fault

I wanna buy Looksmart but need some capital.

Ok, sure how much do you need?

Web search trading company LookSmart's value has plummeted following revelations Microsoft will not renew its contract to use LookSmart's search results on its MSN site from mid-January 2004.

Without the MSN contract, the value must be next to nothing.

Rebranding?

Let's rename Looksmart to Lookdumb (lookdumb.com is still available). Then we could sell the looksmart.com domain to
somebody wanting 21.000 backlinks.

We had better act soon, or the freshbot will ruin it for us!

MSN monkeys are bound to be using Google right now trying to crack the algo they'll stumble across our plan and run off to tell Bill.

OK, Here comes my Dutch generosity, I'll chip in my left over 100 British Pounds - "Google Adwords Free Trial Offer" coupon. With a bit of luck we might even double the traffic to Looksmart.

Right, well i make that -

$336.58,
$5 Starbucks Voucher, and
£100 Adwords Free Trial Offer.

Plus i've got £1.18, but I do need to buy a sandwich...

That should be enough I reckon.

>> That should be enough I reckon. <<

I don't think it is good strategy to go in with our final offer.

Offer them just the Starbucks Voucher for starters... they might just bite.

Speaking of bite, maybe just a bite in tosspot's sandwich would be enough?

If not, I still have about 50 french francs (which I didn't get rid of before the Euro was introduced) that I could donate.

well i've bagged the chairmans seat, and i making some serious inroads into obtaining the table, and office paintings as well. I think i will have to scrape the barrel and up my stakehold to £0.02 GBP.

Multiple currencies - the board of directors sniggering in corners at MSN - jumping up and down on the dead carcuss of 'LookDumb' - eating zinger buggers.

Hey we've cracked it - its time to draw up the takeover!

I'd wait for the brand contamination to be cleared up before accepting a formal position like that. You could tarnish your reputation by association.

That's Lawman's job.... where are you Lawman?
