I have a phone number in the UK trying to see if its valid and who owns it, is there an internet site that does this

You could just type the number into Google ... if the relevant person or company has the number on their web site, you might just get lucky ...

trien and it didn't work, I think that only works with US numbers. the format is

+xx-x-xx-xxxx-xxxx

I don't regularly deal with the UK so don't even know if it's valid

Ignore the first bit +44 and search like this xxx-xxxx-xxxx

Ignore the first bit +44 and search like this xxx-xxxx-xxxx

That might work for a London number. Drop the +44 and add a zero like so ...

If the number is +44 xxx xxxxxx use 0xxx xxxxxx
or if the number is +44 (0)xxx xxxxxx use 0xxx xxxxxx

Note that in the UK, we don't usually put dashes in phone numbers.

You could always check out the whois info for the domain in question. Allwhois is pretty good for this ...

Call the number.

See how they answer, if they say who they are; appologise and say that you've got the wrong number.

If they don't announce themselves, say "Hi, could I speak with [make up some name]". There is a slim chance that they will say who they are when saying that the made up name doesn't exist at that number.

That's what i'd do.

I think you may have to call: Reverse lookup is illegal in the UK, so if you can't find it in a search engine there is little else you can do.
