What sort of cocktail bar are you looking for ... chilled, smart, casual, cool?
Which part of town would you prefer, east, west, central?

Ling Ling @ Hakkasan in Hanway Place is the coolest cocktail bar around at the moment and you can eat fabulous food in the restaurant as well.
If you want to be a little raucous (but still cool) Mash in Great Portland has great cocktails.

you sure? ceilings are too low, music TOO loud, drinks watered down & overpriced and you have to pay to get in
not my idea of a nice place

The Lab on Old Compton does very nice cocktails.
NYC style look and vibe, have had some mixed nights there ranging from amazing to v.average ;-)
Just make sure yours or your friends wallets are well stocked as it can be pricey.
happy b'day

I must admit that it's been a while since I have been to the Long Island Ice Tea Shop. When I went it was free to get in.

I reccommend you head to clapham common - has loads of cool bars and pubs with a young attitude with less of the glitz of the west-end.
Blackheath & Camden are also really cool.

In that case you may want to join in the celebrations at the Springbok Bar Bedford Street for a pre-cocktail.
