Browser problems making me want to scream!

So, I finally decided to give up IE all together. I've got a corrupted installation, and nothing I do will fix it. Rather than waste any more time, I figure I'll just switch to Opera for most of my browsing, and use Netscape for the times when Opera isn't compatible with whatever I'm doing.

What I've learned: 90% of the sites I visit are next to useless in anything other than IE. And not just aesthetically - functionally broken. WebmasterWorld is one of very few sites I visit that doesn't crap out.

The most annoying one? I use Yahoo's Launch music service - totally incompatible with any version of Opera, and not compatible with NN6 or NN7.

What are your experiences with web sites and different browsers?

Any suggestions for how I get around going back to IE? Stop visiting all my usual sites? ;)

Have you tried Mozilla yet?:

huh?

I use opera exclusively. I can't recall the last time I had to launch anything else. (oh, I surf between 2500 and 3500 pages a day)

I'm with Brett here too. I've very, very few problems rendering sites with Opera. And now that they've fixed the coredumping in FreeBSD, it's been rock solid again.

One issue: One of the banking sites I used to use actually requires a version of NN or IE, and does some weird checking (i.e. i think they have a *very* strict policy on UAs and opera's doesn't do it) to ensure you really do have NN or IE. I'm too lazy to investigate what they're doing, and just stopped using the site.

But other than those two minor issues, I have nothing but love for Opera.

Really?

I'm running into: buttons that don't work, forms that won't submit, menus that won't appear, pages that disappear down the bottom with no scrollbars...

Not Opera problems - just badly built sites.

I shouldn't say that quite so definitively...

They *seem* to be badly built sites. I'm no expert though.

I also use Opera. I have to change the browser identity from time to time, and I also have to click on "author mode" to navigates around my bank's site (they try to keep out anyone but IE, but that's easy to get around).

Otherwise, Opera is brilliant. And, unlike Mozilla, it handles .url files - essential given the way I organise my data.
