I've been with mail.com since 94. Ever since then, I have watched them add more and more banners in different sizes, then two or three pop-ups and/or unders, and now they add those stupid intermittent banners that make you stare at a damn advertisement that takes up your entire browser for five or six seconds every two or three clicks in to your folders or mail. Now I do not want to go off on a rant here; but this is truly ridiculous and I cannot believe that they are doing this. It’s now practically impossible to conduct any mail activity during peak hours of the day.

How long do you think they will put up with this (the members). Any chance they will stop this bombardment of advertisements?

Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions?

dropped them a while ago, though my account still exists.

i went to check out what you said, it gave me the option of saying 'no thanks' right away in the bottom corner of the ad, so it's not that horrible.. dont really have to wait for seconds, which would suck a lot. but it's not so easy to ignore the ads when you check your mail.

but i dropped them a year or two ago when the servers were dead slow. Mail would take a long time to show up in my inbox. I complained and they were nice, but couldn't help.

now i just use a hotmail account but download it through outlook express. easier. no ads.

Suggestions?

Well, using Opera or the Googlebar in IE helps against the pop-ups. As for the interstitials, nothing to do but click the no thanks button (or pay your way).

Guess not, they also have to pay their bills I guess. So it's either paid services or advertising.
