Here is one for the Monday morning water cooler. Picking up a choc. lab puppy next week. He is very spunky, with a great attitude. Knows how to be playful, yet knows when to knock it off. Was looking for some cool, different names. Be interested to hear your thoughts.

Thanks

:) No, no dog named Alan Thicke. I'm not cruel to animals.

Sausage

or

Whooooosssaalovelybooyyyy!

I have an old lovely chocolate lab called Amber... she is the best, most lovable creature in the World. Even if she's a bit daft and knocks over antiques on tables sometimes!

Hehehe, one of my cat's name is Thuna (well, Thunfisch actually). Unbelievable how easy you can train your cats to come whenever you call 'em. :D

I had a friend who named his dog "stop" in college. The only problem was when he did want him to stop he thought he was being called.

My dogs names are Itchy and Scratchy. My wife hated those names, but I said "You can call them whatever you want, but I'm gonna call em Itchy and Scratchy." hehe

The D O G and C A T names tickled my funny bone :)

Had a friend called theirs Diogi - pron. D O G

Their other dog was called Velcro.. clingy little thing he was.

I once had a terrier called Jonah.. after Jonah Lomu the All Black (national rugby team in New Zealand). He was born one evening while a rugby test match played on the TV in the background... and as he emerged the announcer cried "It's Jonah.. Jonah.. Jonah's coming straight up the back end!".

None of which helps you, I'm sure :)

Best advice I can give, collect half a dozen names you like and try them on for size over a few days... then throw them all out and end up calling him something totally different as his personality emerges.

Magnum (I used to love that show)

I have Dante, Eli, Phoenix (a rescue, rose from the ashes, basically as she had 30 minutes until the big shot when we found her), Cricket (I wanted to name her Monster, so now she answers to Cricket Monster).

Birds are Blackjack, Keno, Petey, Pepe, Julius (his dearly departed wife was Ethel <g> ) and Bubbe.

I'm still partial to Magnum though. Ironically, I really dislike guns.

Hey, on the Ellen DeGeneres Show (funny show), she's having a contest to name her new puppy. Maybe you can try some of her 20,000 cast-off names.

My dog's name is Angus. He's a border collie.

My cat's name is Mouse. He has a propensity to wedge himself into places where one would not expect a cat to be able to get.

I grew up with Freckles, although that would not apply here.
Then we had Mutt and Jeff, Mork and Mindy, Ally, Lady, Doc.
The last one my parents had was T.P. for Tasha's Pup. He had run away from a place where the entire litter was kept away from human contact and we found him huddling under the horse, Tasha.
My sister's got a Dudley, my uncle has a Grizzly.
Food names are good, like our cat Tobiko, although my sushi chef, who helped me pick out the name, now laughs at me for it!

How about Oops?

We had a Rhodesian Ridgeback named Jasmine, but we called her Jaz or Jazzy - it really described her personality. Miss her. Her mom was called Rhodie. Miss her too.

The offical name (according to my wife) is 'Chloe'.

The dog responds much better to the name 'stupid'. I get much grief when the kids call the dog by this name.
