Got this as an e-mail and I couldn't tell you if it will work or not.
Enter this address in your e-mail contact list:
AAAAAAA@a.aaa
It then takes first position alphabetically and is not an active address, so it will render the virus because inactive because it will be undeliverable. Does this mean that an address like this will stop the e-mail virus because it's not a valid address?

It'd simply send a message to that address, because it's so broken it would bounce at a mail server (who's mail server depends on if it sends normally or delivers directly) and then be returned as an undeliverable, in the meantime it would have mailed the payload everyone else in your address book.

It's a common lie.
Think about it: If you write a virus sending emails, would you stop to check if it was delivered or would you write the program to batch send loads of emails? I'd opt for option 2 if I were a virus writer.
P.S. It's a bit like saying if I send a letter to the number zero in a street, it would stop the postman delivering to the street!
