I wonder what would happen to the crime rate if the judicial system went on strike? :)

It would drop too, the cops could make their own decisions [auction.72rus.ru], no power needed. :)

It's an interesting subject - iatrogenic death rates. It first came to my attention in 1983 during the long strike in Isreal again confirmed when they had another in 2000.

The Journal of the American Medical Association calculates that disease induced in a patient by a doctor's activity is the third largest killer in the US after heart disease and cancer. Makes you think doesn't it :)

As a woman whose about to give birth (2 more weeks!), I have read several articles about how it is actually safer to have your child at home rather than at a hospital.

These days, docs are too quick to cut and healthy babies are at risk of infectious diseases that naturally occur in a place where sick people stay. A c-section actually puts a woman at 5X the risk of a natural birth, and the c-section rate here in the states has risen dramatically in the past few decades due to tinkering on the part of doctors.

But most people have babies in hospitals (at least here in the states) b/c of what might happen. Me, among them, though it's at my husband's insistance. I guess we are happier taking the greater risk and having someone to sue if something goes wrong than to deal with it if there is no one to blame.

As a man who's given birth to three children in the hospital, I just want to say that they all were beautiful, healthy, expensive babies.

BTW, the mothers of my children were present at birth too. :)

The death rates fell because the real pros in the American health care system finally got a chance to do their job without the overbearing, opinionated, prima-donnas around. Three cheers for NURSES!

You're a pretty talented guy there lawman :)

As they say, when Mary had a little lamb the doctors were surprised,
But when Old MacDonald had a farm, you should have seen their eyes...

Hmm, the crime rate would be lower if there were fewer laws... ;)

First you shoot all the lawyers. Then you fire all the doctors.
