This [mr-31238.mr.valuehost.co.uk] worked every time I tried it. I don't understand how.

This must be one of the oldest tricks in the book :)

hint: watch for the symbol in the largest single digit number

You will always get a multiple of nine ;) (credit ScottM - I am not nearly that brilliant to figure it out on my own!)

Here is where it was discussed a few months ago [webmasterworld.com]

When you hit reload, the symbols are switched around, hence you will get a different symbol each time.

That's a good trick.

I don't remember where the link is or where I learned it, but it's based on a simple repetitive property of the 9-times table.

Look through the graphic. You'll see that with exception of 9 X 10, every multiple of 9 has the same symbol on it.

Ascension through the 9-times table reveals a simple mathematical sequence.

(I remember figuring this out in 5th grade - ironic since I hated math in school.)

See the pattern?
09
18
27
36
45
54
63
72
81
90

No?

How about now? Read the numbers vertically.

0 9
1 8
2 7
3 6
4 5
5 4
6 3
7 2
8 1
9 0

See, the mathematical pattern is very simple and quite predictable. That's how it works.
