Well I was offered a job last night, and now I need to negotiate my salary, that way I'm not stuck like I was last time! So anyways, does anyone have any tips or advice that they was given and/or used? Anything is appreciated!

Thanks,
Mac

Show alignment of your long term goals with what they are offering (e.g. "I am interested in this role because it will ofer me future growth in xxxx an din the long term my goal is to be doing xxx, so, while I am obviously ambitious, these factors are more important than salary"). You can always go back and discuss salary once they think you are so great they just have to have you.

GTS - Say you would like more information about the position and that the salary is negotiable.

gts24,
I would never give a figure before the interview.

If he knows your expectations before the actual negotiation he will have an advantage over you. That's why he's asking.

Just say you'll discuss it later.

Howdy,

When someone asks the price BEFORE they know what the product is, that is kinda scary. Tell them that you can bring a lot more to the table than just a salary figure. You should insist on a face to face meeting to explain the positives of hiring you.

They may have a narrow range, and you may not fit into that range.

Good luck,
