No referrer

I have an old site that is not actively promoted or SEO'd. It is well-indexed simply because of its age. It usually gets about 100 uniques a day.

For the past week or two (I don't check its traffic), it has had a 5-10 fold increase in visits, with most being to the entry page and never beyond it. No referrer.

There is no other pattern to the domains of the visitors - ISP dialups, business domains, various countries, IP address only, etc.

I know there are a few email-borne viruses abroad, but what could be causing this sudden interest in a very ordinary site?

perhaps it has been put onto someones blog page and for some reason no referrer is showing.

Thanks.

But if that were the case, there would be the usual variable visitor pattern - some would visit a further 1-2 pages, sometimes more. But these hits never go past the entry page.

Are visitor's IP specific to some particular Country?

Thanks, I will follow up in that other thread. My visits aren't all Win98 UAs like that lot.
