Took me six months to finally get them to let me launch that website. Took Google six hours to spider it. Now I'm #1, #2, #3, #3, #4, #5, #7, and #14 for my top 8 keyphrases (mostly different word orders of the same thing).
This morning I opened the first package I got in the mail for my birthday and it was from my mom, and now my butt says "Wonder Woman" on it. And now I'm two dozen years old (that's a lot! And a good round number too!) and the boss is away on vacation so he won't bother me. And, I unplugged my phone because it was broken so nobody will bother me.
Could today be better?
Wait, there's more!
My wonderful boyfriend spent three hours in the kitchen last night preparing for the dinner he's going to make me tonight, and won't tell me what it is.
AND
I have two mystery packages that arrived in the mail, one from Williams Sonoma and one from Barnes & Noble. I don't know who they're from but I know they're for me!
So I get to open those tonight after the dinner my boyfriend's making me. (I don't know what it is but I know it involved a special trip to the butcher's, and a lot of rummaging on the shelf with the secret recipes.)
I haven't had this good a birthday since I was little!
Obviously my sister wants me to be a fat bridesmaid at her wedding next year. I will foil this plot but it won't be through dieting. So, it'll have to be exercise, for me. Phooey.
What actually arrived was:
1. The intended cookbooks, and
2. a nice set of pint glasses.
So we're going to have to have some returning and straightening out the mix-up. I was totally confused...
Anyhow.
My boyfriend made me shrimp szechuan, from his late father's famous secret recipe. He'd attempted it before but had added too much water to the sauce, so it had been very runny. This time it was perfectly thickened and absolutely wonderful. If you've had shrimp szechuan before, you haven't really. This was amazing.
After dinner he said "I had a gift all picked out for you, but I didn't know what size to get." I looked at him, and started reeling off my sizes--9 1/2, 14 or 16 depending, 36 DDD, large to extra large, L/7...
"No, no," he said. "I didn't know how many gigs to get you."
Gigs?
Well, he drove me to the Apple Store and bought me an iPod. He wouldn't hear no for an answer. He bought me the 30 gig size. I had been stealing his laptop every day to use it as a jukebox at work. He figured it was about time one of us broke down and got me something more practical, and it wasn't going to be me since I'm broke.
Turns out I have 4 GB left over but I think once I get around to ripping the rest of my CDs that might change.
This thing is the coolest thing I've ever owned.
I didn't get him anything for his last birthday-- I was unemployed and scraping the bottom of the barrel, and had nothing. I couldn't even buy all the drinks that night. So for my birthday I got him an EZ-pass. It's hooked into my credit card. I'll pay his tolls unless he sees fit to change his billing information. It's the most I can afford and the least I can do.
He's such a fabulous boyfriend... I always hate people who talk about their boy/girlfriend all the time, but I've become guilty of it. Just so y'all know, it's not without reason!
So, it was a great birthday, and I'm hoping the start to a great year.
p.s. I actually got two sets of Wonder Woman underpants, so I'm doubly invincible. I plan on keeping one pair clean at all times, in case of emergencies. I also now have a stereo where my brain should be, so the world can't even touch me. :D
