Marcia,

I'm glad this one gets to stand. so must be brouchure stuff then.

Im trying to work out a sane cut-off point between static and dynamic. page number v time v human condition v automation

I love static, its the mistakes that you make, and you can read it twenty times over and the mistake Rules, but that silly mistake can also be a singular stream of revenue that - makes the day.

I'm just finishing a 162 page static site. and in the middle of a 700+ page site - painful, but its got to be worth it for the uniqueness of content

Slightly over 1000 static pages. Next site in size is about 400 static pages. And yes, I wrote all but a handful of articles myself.

For dynamic, I have a message board with 36,000+ posts. I also recently learned that it is a pain to have to move something with a continuously updating database of that size to a new host, especially on a couple of week's notice.

Info site with 4570 static pages. I'm about
to add another 600 pages this week. It is a
lot of work, but it sure does pay off.

At one stage, when the internet was new, and FrontPage seemed so innocent, I produced our company web over about 1000 pages of static content. Of course, you couldnt order the products, so I went dynamic. Because of the nature of the industry, where every one wants something different, it was all getting a bit too much to cater for, so I did a back-flip and went static again just a few weeks ago. Currently, probably 100 static pages + seperate ordering system for different types of product. In its dynamic days it was about 3000 pages + 50 static.

One of our sites has roughly 9,500 static pages and very few dynamic pages. Mind you it could easily be closer to 15,000 if we add in the very old pages but am not sure.

On what would be my "largest" site:

Around 100 static, 13.1 million dynamic... Good thing I do my best to prevent bots from running around willy-nilly. :)
