From time to time I've seen members post about their classic cars. I'm curious how many old car nuts hang out here at WW.

I've got two old cars, a 68 VW sedan and a 72 VW panel bus.

Ok, it's really the panel and a pile of parts (the sedan) at the moment, but I keep hoping :)

So what relic of the road lurks in your garage?

An '84 Honda Melody Deluxe 2. Took it apart nut and bolt, jsut to find the engine seized.. was garaged too long. Turned out I couldn't get the parts here... but there is still Hoping...

Sadly, the love of my life (aka. one of the last ten VW Sciroccos to be registered in the UK) was destroyed by a nice lady in a Nissan. :(

After a summer free from travelling and exhibiting at shows, I'm now on the lookout for an early Scirocco to restore which, although not everyone's idea of a classic, is right up my street. Besides - there's about half a Scirocco on shelves in my garage anyway, so I ought to put those parts to good use. :)

The old adage about beauty being in the eye of the beholder springs to mind...

Lawman, my brother and I have this debate continuously. He likes big fast 60's muscle cars. He just gave his son one that he bought new in the late 60's. All original, VERY low milage. Still has it's original paint, etc, never been wrecked.

Looks like the kid will drive it more this summer than his dad did in 30 years!

Kid is thrilled.

Every time I go to a car show I come home thinking "I want one of each"

A '67 Mustang convertible [mostlymustangs.com], in that particular obnoxious shade of red... a 1941 Chevy pickup [chevytrucks.org] -- that grille just makes me drool... and -- dream of dreams -- a Duesenberg [autogallery.org.ru].

But back in the real world, I do have an early 80's moped in my garage waiting for a rebuild and a custom paint job. So far, I have the details of the paint job laid out in colored pencil on some paper in a pile in the closet, and the moped's only been in the garage for about 3 years... :)

Mivox; Last fall we went to the Auburn, Cord, Duesenberg Meeting in Auburn IN.

Somewhere around 500 Auburns, Cords, and Duesenbergs all in one place. Yikes!

I play around a bit with classic cars. I only have one in the garage right now, a 1970 RoadRunner.

I've owned a 1968 Boss 429, A 70 Cuda, a 71 Hemi Cuda, a 68 Charger, a 70 Hemi Charger, A 69 Roadrunner, 66 GTO, 67 GTO, 70 Super Bee and a 69 Hemi Coronet to name a few.

Put a 454 in a little Chevy Vega one too. Nice little wheel scorcher. I love the muscle cars. Not overly fond of anything new, most of them look like half ovals with wheels. I love the new tech that can be applied to old muscle though.

Ah, the memories. That car was dipped, pampered and enjoyed immensely back in the 70s. DG, I'll take it you are a Mopar fan. ;)

Not overly fond of anything new...

Me neither. Not only do they all look like pills (if it's a "sensible" car) or suppositories (those are the "sporty" ones), but I need more than a wrench and socket set to work on them... my "cheap gene" starts to kick in when the shop manual starts talking about special "just for this engine" tools.

I think I'm almost ready to just get a body and have some big generic rebuilt thing put in it... The kind of engine that's referred to by a 3 digit number, rather than the make and model of the car it's designed for (and every junkyard in the country has 20 of them in the back lot).

Last weekend we sucessfully covered about 700 Miles in Miles and considering I rebuilt the engine (skin now all healed!), I am very pleased.

Would love a fast motor though so i could join these nutters
