The dangers of brick & mortar retailing

You'd think we were a farmers market

This afternoon, someone drove through the front window [home.earthlink.net] of one of our retail stores. No one was hurt (although a woman standing outside had a near miss), and the damage will likely be fixed quickly. The driver was (how to say this nicely?) from the same demographic as the drivers from California [guardian.co.uk] and Florida [orlandosentinel.com].

Perhaps those of you with Web-only businesses should ask your insurance companies for a discount.

We have some small shopping strips. We're averaging about 1 auto-vs-storefront every 5 or 6 years. The biggest so far involved a dumpster-style garbage truck ...brakes failed and it plowed right into the concrete block wall of the K-Mart.
