Movie download from Kazaa

...of the problem when downloading movies (mpeg i think)

I tried today to download some old movies and the file - when it had completed download - had no file extension.

so I can't play it

I added the mpeg extension to the file and the movie played but only with sound (using windows media player - win ME)

is there something I have missed? I was advised to install Kazaa media player but don't want more software on the system.

would appreciate any advice

Try renaming as .avi and see if that works. Failing that, you'll need to perhaps find the right codec for that file. I think from memory there is a good free codec pack out there for grabs called Nimo. Give it a whirl, it may do the trick.

It was searching for a 'codec' but couldn't find it - looks like you might of hit the preverbial nail...

if not - try Gspot codec informaton appliance - it'll tell you what codec you need

also sometimes you need to fix avi file..try divxfix or simmialr ..
