Major Developments in the Last Year

So what have I missed?

I have been away from the game for about a year (spookily my last post was exactly a year ago) and I am looking to get upto speed as quickly as possible.

Could any kind soul summarise the major developments of the last year for me please?

I know I could trawl the archives, but it takes long enough to catch up on one days worth of messages, let alone a year's worth :)

MSN own Google now....um....AOL dont send out CDs anymore....er....Googleguy is actually female.....ehh....most of us have PR10's. ;)

A lot has happened in the past year!

The most recent development that interests me is the launch of Google Adsense - displays Adwords on your site based on your content.

Google has also recently changed the way it plays games, but to be honest before that I was losing interest in what Google was doing, so I didnt pay any attention to what they do now.

As far as I can tell it's a rolling update type deal - more frequent crawls and no "monthly update".

There have been various business developments with the big players in the SE market - takeovers, mergers, etc but again I lost interest.....um....come join in the Word Game thread! It'll still be going in a years time! ;)
