China regained control over Hong Kong on this day in 1997 after Britain had contolled it as a colony for 156 years.

Last year someone told me all my clocks had to go back, I returned five of them but I still can't remember where I got the others from.

On the 1st July 1646 Gottfried Leibniz was born. His many achievements included the development of the binary system and a calculating machine calculating machine [www-gap.dcs.st-and.ac.uk].
