what are they meant to do?

ok, life at uni r0x0r during the term time - but come the summer all the uni social life dies! all your mates go home to various parts of the globe, (and you can't go home due to no jobs at home!), so you're stranded with no mates, and even your tried and trusted union bar is dead.

what's a student to do?

all ideas welcome!

Though it may be unpopular, how about work? ;)

Build a few affiliate sites....if you're any good at SEO, you won't have to work next year while in school.

Trust us - if you make some more money, 'social wise' you'll have a LOT better options come the next session of school :)

Um, inter personal relationships with your choice of 'beautiful person'? ;)

For me, that would translate to - more time with the wife & two kids.

For another person, it could mean anything at all...

Doh! That too :) If I could spend my days at the beach, playing with the kids, I'd also get something portable & wireless so I could stay in touch with the search engine stuff @ WebmasterWorld.

Ah, that would be living...

no no no, jatar_k - I'm saying, the ultimate would be to leave the house with the computer & internet attached :)

After all, life without WebmasterWorld - that might not really be 'life' ;)

Hey, vince, you should do some dating-site affiliate work. That would solve your money AND social-life problems! ;)

I had the same trouble as a student. I lived off-campus and stayed there year-round.
Man, it was a _ghost_ town.

I joined the local fencing team, which was also a ghost scene due to most of the members being elsewhere.
But the coach was still in town! So, reduced-price lessons out of mutual boredom = a great year of fencing come fall for me!

Unfortunately, I was really bad at fencing...
And now that I'm out in the job world, I wish I'd spent the time developing some kind of marketable skill instead... Ah well.

This is my first summer not being off from school. It feels very weird. I'm used to a scenery change every June...
No time to go out drinking, either.
If you crack the secret of how to have fun in the off-season, do share; we could all use a few thrills. ;-)
