When I bought my PC last year one of the first things that bugged me was a link to Virgin.net placed on my desktop that I simply couldn't remove. Now it really is getting on my wick - kind of like noisy eaters!

Only I didn't then, or now, want this annoying 'icon' on my desktop. However it is not a shortcut - its a system folder so cannot be deleted via drag and drop - If I Right click the properties tab it brings IE options dialogue box.

Can anybody let me know if/how I can safely remove this little critter?

Thanks

Liam

Have you tried using tweakui?

Thanks Pixel juice.

Nope - never even heard of it.

I have had a look at the website. Looks good but is there an easier way to do this without installing new software?

I had just hoped to remove it and be done with the bloody thing.

You can, but you need to do some registry hacking. It's probably safer to software to do it, to be honest.

Ah, OK try this first:

Go to control panel> internet options> advanced. In the browsing section untick 'show internet exporer on the desktop'. Does this fix it?

Jim_W & Pixel Juice

I'm a happier man this morning

I tried both of your suggestions. The registry hack worked a treat.

Thanks loads
