Seems like Wired and Salon.com have gone over the top in spamming daypop.

any more details martinibuster? dont know what you mean. I use daypop a lot, but havent seen any more items appearing from these two sources in searches than normally lately. Daypop seems to be having some problems with the hardware/software upgrade however and some of the more bloggy type top 10/40 citations etc indexes are not working as they announce on the home page.

Daypop has spells of getting loaded with multiple articles from the same source, or limited number of sources. I've seen owner comments as to why, but didn't really pay attention.

I like daypop's page style better but if it's having a glitch I alternate w/ blogdex, MB. [blogdex.media.mit.edu...]

I love Daypop (when it's working). I just wish it could generate enough money to keep itself online properly. (should be possible...)

I tap their RSS feeed - and I see Salon and Wired all over it, with very little else. I hadn't been to the actual site in a while, so I just checked. Big red notice:

Searching works but Top 40, Top Posts, Word Bursts and News Bursts are invalid.

Guess they are having troubles.

rcjordan,
Thanks for those links! I really love these alternate sources of news.

I don't know why daypop has such trouble selling ads- can't seem to recall ever seeing one. Especially with a PR7 plus decent traffic (I suppose)- should be a no brainer for a media outlet to advertise there.

I recall reading that the guy behind it is losing money on this and that this is like a weekend hobby thing. Whatever's going on with it, I hope he gets it fixed and attracts more advertisers.
