Ok, until now I am confuse and seeking the light on my problem. it sort of a techie and i need your experience on this.

I bought a USB 2.0 laptop hddisk case to act as my external drive. Grab a used hddisk that is 30 gig, but when tested to a laptop, the BIOS shows 15 gig only (laptop issue). The hddisk is NOT formatted. My PC is has 1.0 or 1.1 USB

Question/s: if I plug this product and install the drivers, would it be recognize in MY COMPUTER in Windows EVEN if the hddisk was NOT formatted? (it did not on my pc)

Even if it does not Show in MY COMPUTER, would using FDISK be able to detect it?

here is the site of the product. its USB HDD 2.5.

Thanks in advance.

I love external USB harddisks, portability plus.

Once the drivers are installed it should show in explorer where you can then format it. However, I don't think you can do the partitioning from explorer, I believe that would need to be done with fdisk. Which raises the question, if you are only seeing 15Gb perhaps it is already partitioned in whioch case you should see both partitions in Explorer.

The problem is it does not appear in MY COMPUTER and the disk is unformatted. Is there a possibility that the hddrive is damage? (BIOS detected it w/c made me assume that its not)

If you would check it in SYSTEM (Control panel) the drivers are installed properly.
