I use google language tools to translate from French to English "abreuvoir" translate to "feeding trough". But in French abreuvoir is a water dispenser specifically for animals...

Coconutz is the winner, however there may be some debating due to the actual function.

[smidley.com...]
[vittetoeinc.com...]

coconutz:
waterer for swine

IGN:
cattle sticks there nose in the dispenser and
gets the water, ussally attached to the stall
for in barn use.

Macguru:
Is it an automatic water trough for larger animals like pigs and cows?

Macguru, how the heck did you come up with "abreuvoir" in the first place? My eyes must be getting real old of that was readable in the photos.

Congrats coconutz!

Still don't get how the thing is supposed to function, though. How do the pigs get the thing to give the water? (yes, I'm a city guy, never really visited a farm).

>>How do the pigs get the thing to give the water?

Probaly just the way we do, stick their heads in and turn the little knobby thing at the top.

(Yeah, yeah, I'm a city boy too.)

Congrats coconutz!

The pig puts its snout in the cup and hits the metal post under the valve, this opens the valve and puts water in the cup.

Talking pigs. I plan to someday genetically engineer a pig so it will choose its own cud, and corner the Kosher pork market :)
