Surprised to see in the "What's Your Cup" thread that there are at least three Everton supporters in Webmaster World.

Of course, I had failed to see the parallels:

Years of dour struggle to make ends meet, selling one's future to protect one's present.
A false dawn, emerging into the international sunlight before being cruelly struck down by a rule change.
Believing the false promises of those who would offer a new home for our business.
Using our skills to wring over-achievement from tired and aging assets.

Well, I'll add another for soccer - Bristol City FC, who managed to get a League Rank of 3 but then cruelly recieved a PR0 (PlayoffRank), and it will take at least another year for them to be restored to their rightful position ;)
