Poor Guy. We've all been there. Just not this bad.

OK. We were all young and most of us were geeks. We did geeky stuff. But whenever your a kid and your geeking out, Lord, please, don't video tape it and leave it at your high school! It might end up in the New York Times.

The story - [waxy.org...]

The video - [waxy.org...]

The "remix" - [waxy.org...]

The NY Times article - http://www.nytimes.com/2003/05/19/technology/19DORK.html [nytimes.com]

ps. Lucas should celebrate his geekness and put this guy in the next movie. He can't be any worse that the two he got to play Anakin.

The N.Y. Times named the file 19DORK.html?

Way to go Times...

That is just terrible! The Times gets worse everyday.

At least this kid is getting some new gear. His moves aren't bad at all. It's just ashame that people are making fun of him.

That was pretty lame of the NY Times. At least the kid only made up moves, not stories.

BTW, it kinda reminds me of ESPN's profile page for Miroslav Satan of the Buffalo Sabres. The address is sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?statsId=666

What about financing martial art classes (for Wing Chun Kung Fu or bo jutsu) with the money, instead of buying a iPod ... then in a couple of years he can do a sequel and we'll see who's laughing then, when he kicks a**.

Way to go kid.

Poor little fella!

Nice to see that waxy.com is offering him something - not suprised that affiliate laden NY Times isnt.

What sort of legal recourse would someone in that position have to stop sites offering the file for download?

Recourses I guess quite a lot. Chances none.

If the music industry can't stop mp3 downloads, I guess some boy from Quebec can forget it altogether.

The poor guy. But he seems (at least on the outside) to have dealt with it pretty well.

I had the notion that it would be great if someone put up a website to target those guys that released the video to the masses in the first place. Invite anyone who had embarrassing photo's or gossip to contribute. Hell, even make some of it up. But I guess in litigious North America that would be asking for trouble.

Anyhow, I fired off my 'you pathetic morons' e-mail to the NY Times, so I feel a bit better.

If i had any money id give it to him for an iPOD because he deserves it.

Perhaps Lisa riley might give him 250 (uk users should get it)

As if he hasnt got enough to worry about being the fat kid in the class, poor little mite gets splatterd all over the net. Quite funny thought!

Let the Force be with him!

I did not think this was that good until I saw the remix, which is brilliant.

>We were all young and most of us were geeks. We did geeky stuff

I was thinking about this this morning. There's that new on-going effort by the bloggers to raise some money and buy this guy something ---mostly out of guilt.

So bloggers here's RC's challenge, if you're the new world order in communications show your power, make the drive for this kid's ipod into an event that will make those little sumbitches that published it wish that THEY had been in the film. Ipod? Nice, looks like he's getting that. What about a car?

I was planning on donating to the fundraiser but they've closed it. They raised $4,334.44!

That will buy him an iPod and a pretty sweet Mac as well.

I still think Lucas should give him a walk-on in the next flick. Or at least name a character after him - Ghyslain sounds pretty Jedi to me.

Yeah, heaven forbid I get caught on tape acting foolish, and someone gives me $4K for my trouble... that would be awful. ;)

Well, all I can say for him is what my Mom use to say to me when I was the tormented one in school. "Whatever doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger (and his case, apparently richer.)"

Do you think I can raise $4000 if I release a video of me reading webmaster world and making vroom-vroom noises every time I use my mouse? ;P
