FRIVOLOUS Google update cheering/booing thread (Dominic)

No pontificating or getting on your high-horse here!

This thread is for shoutouts about the Dominic update because the main serious Google update threads are cluttered with guesses and long-winded theories like "Looks to me like PR is less important this month, and anchor text of inbound links counts more.", etc. This thread is ONLY for frivolous discussion and statements of joy or dismay, like "OMG, I've been dropped in the new index!" and "Yippee, I'm now #1 on a key SERP". What you think about deep spiritual meaning of "new algo" has no relevance here, unless you can express it in general terms such as "it sucks!" or "it rocks!"

*****

I'll start it off: "Awesome! I'm #1 for my main search keyword across all 9 datacenters! Google rocks!"

I'm #1 for my main search keyword across all 9 datacenters!

There were only 8 last time I looked, so you're doing remarkably well :)

I have good position on a few secondary keywords. Non-impressive results on most of my other targeted searches. This is in regards to a new site so over-all im pleased, however i'm expecting FAR better results on the next update.

Which wont be for another 2-3 months, judging by how Google has operated lately.

Ahem, ok allow me to remove my stiff upper lip.

Boooo! Hisss Boooo! Hisss Booo! the -fi serps eat dirt! if google keeps the -fi -sj results as they are, then Im might even consider crying and wailing too.

BOOOOOOOO!

Why am I booing? No not because im from Philly (im not) and they boo everything. I am booing because I wish Google would update every month on the last week of the month. That would make alot of people's lives alot easier if they knew the update came sometime during the last week of the month.

Sorry, getting ahead of myself - www-zu is redirecting to one of the other centres, so there are 9 centres but 8 in use... so we're both kinda right ;)

These SERPs currently look like a 14 day old roadkill possum in Alabama in June, covered with flies and maggots. And, they smell even worse than that. :( I'm still waiting for what Googleguy seemed to suggest that more data would be brought in? WHERE is the friggin inbound anchor text for my main site? Google has sunk to the bathetic depths of total incompetence. My guess is that most of the Google staff were abandoned by the puke-drooling, giggling beasts that sired them, who then died of shame in recognition of what they had done. They were a bit late. The Google staff are so clueless that if we stripped them naked, soaked them in clue musk, and dropped them into a field full of horny clues at the height of mating season, they still would not have a clue.

Is the above sufficiently frivolous, and filled with grotesque over-exaggeration and contempt that it meets your approval? ;)

lmao - very good.

PS: I think maybe your website is just a little too reliant on incoming anchor text by the sound of it. What you're experiencing now would have happened anytime that google decided to play with the algo. It's not google's fault...

What update?

It ain't over til it's over. I refuse to get nervous even though we have diappeared on all these back woods data centres from any SERP that previously ranked our index page in the top 5.

When I see it on www.google.com I will be a little upset.

Until now, nothing.

nevertheless, in the spirit of the thread...

Boooooooooooooo

What are they up to this month? Seems like some of the algo got stuck in the U-bend and they can't find a decent plumber yet.

Yepeee - I'm #1 for one of my main keyword :)

However I don't deserve it and in fact expected to be #1 for another main keyword, where I'm only #9 :(
And to this keyword I didn't pay attention at all :)

Yeah, I too like it. Just dump any domain that features the word hotel and more than one hyphen and you'll be there.

rfgdxm1, can I quote you on my Search Engine News page? This is the most focused and on target analysis that I have seen to date.

.. the nine datacentres (including FI).

I keep seeing this -fi for the last 2 weeks or so. For the other 8 datacentres there are 'educated' guesses about the meaning (e.g. 'sj' is supposed to stand for 'San Jose')

If there is not yet a consensus about fi, tell me what you think. OK, I will start:

- Finland

- First In, ....?

Anything that makes others squirm with discomfort is fine with me.

Thanks for the joy, Google!
