Sorry if the wrong cat.

Anyhow is anybody seeing an unusual amount of virus attacks, ie malware. worm fizzer a.

This one managed to evade my detection software

Normally I get 6 or so per week, to my private email address, more to site email, but I am not worried so much about them.

But today I have received 22 (so far) forwarded to my private email address, one got through ie I opened the attachment, ok I know... but the file attachment .jpeg and the from field was from a known friend and associate.

As soon as I opened s..t I knew, not jpeg

And not from whom it said, so how do they get the from field to suggest it is from an ok known source and associate name.

Maybe so far I have been lucky, any ideas anyone.

Help, I may have a couple of hundred angry people in a day or two.

Yes, we're in the middle of a fairly major virus storm with Fizzer at the moment.

If you're not using AV software, get some (AVG is reliable and free from grisoft.com) and update it at least daily.

Meantime, F-Secure is a very reliable source of information for viruses. The following URL will give you full information about Fizzer's operation and towards the bottom there are instructions for manual deletion of the virus.

Some more Fizzer news:

There's a free disinfection tool available from F-Secure at the above link.

Fizzer is spreading fast. Update your AV signatures.
