Matrix Reloaded

Is it just me?

Or does anyone else find the official (WB) Matrix Reloaded website impossible to navigate and highly confused?

Anyone know who did the web design?

It is not just you. I didn't get the navigation system at all at first.

"at first" implies you got it eventually. I'm still trying to get my head around it. I'm no slouch when it comes to working out sites either.

Very very poor web-design - or do you think it's deliberately done like that to look "deep and complex"?!

Usability gets an F. I was trying to get to the animated movies for downloads and it took forever. It splits off and getting to points you want is impossible. Then the animated site has splash pages for the cartoons. You have to go through like 3 pages to see the movie you could have done right from the beginning. Needs work.

No one makes such a bad usability on purpose (I hope).

I wrote 'at all at first'. This implies that now I'm getting a small tiny bit how the navigation works (i.e. I realized that MouseOver on one of those tiny rectangles made one of the other screens show what content you get when clicking).

I'm sure they had quite a budget for it. When companies throw obscene amounts of money on Web site development projects, sometimes the designers think they have to shoot for something so cutting edge. Unfortunately, their designs often fail. This might be one case in point.

The Matrix is all about thinking out of the box, and the navigation certainly is :)

Hands up if the suspense is unbearable! *raising hands*

The site is pretty carp IMO, but the film will be ace.

Did'nt have a problem with the navigation, but had a few bad times trying to download the trailers of the site a few times.

Rule one of web-design is functionality.

Sure, a site for a film like that (can't wait to see it either) has to look ultra-hip and very very slick, but to me making a site like that with good functionality is what's clever.

It's not design - it's art (wannabe arty in my opinion). You could call it design only if it had the functional element.

That, for me, is poor design, no matter how beautiful (debatable anyway) and in theme with the film it looks.

Mike12345 if you can't wait down load the prequal cartoons the second renaissance part 1 and 2 from theanimatrix.com to see how the machines take over. They are very cool and written by the writers of the movie.

Oh yes - now that *is* cool. I'm all for the "arcade game" style of web design - serious SEO on it is next to impossible, but then with a brand like that........

Yeah, I want an X10 Cam, but they won't supply them to the UK.

Do they have quite a decent picture quality then?

Im a UK resident and i have one, i had to go to some extreme lengths to get one though! but if you want something badly enough. And they are pretty damm cool i can tell you.

Not fantastic picture, but they are very versatile and with the right tools you can clear up the picture.

I guess the easiest way is to get a mate to order you one from the states and then ship it to you.

I did wonder if customs would intercept though - presumably it operates on a frequency not allocated to the UK or something.

Is that what you did?

Damm you FEDs you wont break me, i was trained by toughest.

Customs never picked it up, youd be amazed at what ive brought through with me. You can change the operating frequency, and if all your equipment is from the same place then you dont have much of a problem.

You want one? Its cheaper to get a really small CCtv cam, and modify as neccessary, depends what you want it for.

deliberately done like that to look "deep and complex"?!

Bingo. :) Deep, meaningful action movie requires deep, meaningful website, right?

Now, mind you I like the site navigation, but I always did have a weak spot for puzzles. hehehe. (And yes, it took me a while to get the hang of it...)
