I did a test a couple of days ago and got the result: 58 wpm.. Is it good standard?

Interesting, thought I'd be slower. Never tested that since learning to touch type (one a Mac Powerbook 140 keyboard) a few years ago. Before that, I had written software for another number of years with a semi-visual-touch system of my own invention, frequently switching between US and German layouts...

About 60 words a minute, therefore it should take me about 17 seconds to type this message. :)

I used to do 120 wpm dictation and 110 wpm copy.

The simple fact is that that speed isn't healthy for sustained periods (when you do a substantial amount of typing each day and day in-day out) and I don't even attempt it any more, though I may approach it at times, it's certainly not deliberate.

These days I stick to around 60 wpm (which in the past has been considered a 'commercial speed').

hmm.. faster than I thought

Gross Words Per Minute (GWPM): 76
Net Words Per Minute (NWPM): 76

That's my normal relaxed speed.. in fact I answered a phone call in the last ten seconds.

Gross Words Per Minute (GWPM): 386
Net Words Per Minute (NWPM): 385

100% the truth - copied and pasted.

But I just held down the " G " key :)
Wow, that shows you how fast that person doing 200+ words per minute really is!

False reading:
Gross Words Per Minute (GWPM): 136
Net Words Per Minute (NWPM): 136
Real reading:
Gross Words Per Minute (GWPM): 65
Net Words Per Minute (NWPM): 63
:)
