Rumours had it that they would buy vivendi, but now it doesn't look like it.

I think the 99c per song will be the big hit here, it will be very interesting to see how it ends up.

They also released a new version of Ipod

Seems it's Apple only and just in the US for the time being.

Plans are for a Windows version by the end of the year.

Good move by apple - I bet Mr Gates is kicking himself! ;)

They did pretty well already.

Now 2 million songs [biz.yahoo.com]...

Not bad for a 2 weeks old business...

51 of those songs are mine (3 albums and 2 individual songs). So far I've been pretty pleased with the service. It seems they have a pretty good business model.

I think the iTunes music store is utter genius. But I'm having a problem at work. Seems I'm taking too many iBreaks* and not getting as much done as I did before.

* iBreak - stopping your regular work to spend time browsing through the iTunes Music Store

I just tried out this iTunes store. I've never downloaded music in my life, I had no idea how it works, but in minutes I was downloading my first song.

lazerzubb you have a very good point: buying by the song for only .99 cents has a very strong appeal to me.

The interface is very well thought out. I'm sold on it. I might even buy myself an ipod at Christmas. ;)

Ditto on that, Brad. The store actually has me thinking it makes sense to digitize my entire music collection and store it on an iPod, my G4, etc. Never would've considered buying an iPod before, but I'm giving it thought now.

He he! It wasn't long before users found a way around to share the files. ;)
