Of note: in the "B" division, a scrappy new player nicknamed "Hawkgirl" scored the first goal of the first game ... which also happened to be her first goal ever and her first game ever.
:)
The regular season games just don't require enough defensive effort. There are too many regular season games and the guys just can't play like that all year. Now that the open ice is gone, new winners emerge.
Hawkgirl - nice job! My team won our championship last season for the first time. Gonna move up a division and see if we can make it a sweep :)
It was always true that a tight defence would win playoffs, rarely freewheeling offence.
The Devils with Brodeur in the net are a living proof of that statement, although beating the bruins was only a matter of containing Thornton's line (credit goes to Madden's line) and scoring one or two goals.
Now it's Vancouver's turn to be in trouble...... at least the Sens are out of trouble, but they better regroup because if they keep playing the way they did in the first round, it won't be a long trip for them.....
