Johnny Cash Video -- Hurt

Johnny Cash has done a cover of a NiN song Hurt. This video gives me chills as did the NiN ones. The video director is Mark Romanek who also directed videos for Jackson, Madonna, Weezer, Bowie, Apple, Peppers, No Doubt, Kravitz, Jagger and so on. Mark made the video available here [markromanek.com] on his site for viewing pleasure.

Johnny Cash is an older now, through his times this is one person who I give respects to as an entertainer. At first I thought the video/song couldnt be done, but feeling was put across the board into it. Made me feel sad. He's now at the top of many charts once more.

I really like his remake. I like the NIN version a lot and I think Johnny Cash did a great job on it. The video is great as well. It is nice to see some of the old guys like Cash remake more modern songs like this. He redid Soundgarden's Rusty Cage a few years ago as well.

I'm not much into country music (my wife is - big time). However, for some reason, I've always liked Cash's music; don't know why. Love the new video.

Bravo. He brings a new element to that song. It is one of the must emotional songs I have ever heard, and Johnny Cash pulled it off very well.

I have never been a big fan of country either. He is not really honky tonk country though. Thats why I think he can pull off stuff like this.

Does he have an entire albumn of covers?

This gal i was seeing made me download his cover of a Will Oldham song that she loved. I thought it was pretty weird that he would cover that.

Then my roomate told me about the NIN cover because it was all over the news here.

Pretty interesting.

I do not remember what the NIN video looked like...the only 2 videos I know of theirs are march of the pigs and closer.

I thought this video was pretty good though.

completely agree. love the song. the whole album is actually excellent, and i've never been a huge johnny cash fan. another good cover he does: personal jesus originally by depeche mode.

I havent had the privelege of hearing it yet, but ya cant beat the original, Reznor is a legend. :)
