Internet2 Is a privatly held company, and co-owned by some very large companies and universities. Yes it may be available in the future, but at the present time no, and it might take quite a while before it becomes available, have been talks about it for quite some time, it will be used mainly by universities and companies, which used the Internet when no one else used it ;)

I can already get a 100 mbps FTTD connection in Japan (optical fiber) for about $40 US/month. No, I don't personally have one yet ;)

Is there a theoretical limit to the speeds that the current Internet can handle?

Actually I didnt think my broadband was fast... Did you know that I have a 1gb monthly cap on my 512/128 broadband, which I pay AU$90 for. Australia is The Worst Place In The World for internet access. And don't get me started on the pings lately...

hey Bill, congrats on the 1000th post.

I'll chip in....the speed of light will be the limit, but if there is an update, maybe half :)
