ok this isn ot SEO but i have this stupid problem, i dont know hopw to solve it...

i upgraded from win98se to win 2000 profesional. after that i cant connect to adsl.i have ethernet card,i installed drivers provided from my dsl provider ,dsl connects but nothing works.ping returns "error 65". i tried millions of settings, i also removed pppoe enternet and instaled raspppoe driver.nothing. all i get is connection (there is traffic since all lights are corrct on my dsl modem and also system LOGS and checks pass and then connection is established.).

can anybody tell me if you had any troubles after instaling win 2000? i also have win98se on my disk and adsl wokrs since iam writting this :)

but on win2000 no matter what i do - intenrent is not working. i used various pppoE protocols (enternet, winpoem, raspppoe etc) and nothing works. there are no conflicts in hardware...

any ideas?

lawman's universal fix = disable your firewall and see if that helps. :)

Uhm, if I'm understanding you correctly - I don't think you can install W2k over any other version, it must be a clean install using either FAT 32 or NTFS.

If the modem connects mostly it is :

internet options --> connection --> lan settings.

do you remember which boxes were checked on win98 and which ones not? Possibly win2k set tose checkboxes back to default.

or

internet options --> connection --> setup
make sure you select lan-connection here.

Hmmmm. I made the move to w2k about three years ago, so my recollections must be a bit faulty. Even then I did the clean install because of known driver availability problems.

So, we're talking dual-boot?

Take a read thru these two and see if you have what they say is required.

Multibooting Windows 2000 [win2000mag.com]

and

217210 - How to Multiple Boot Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, and MS-DOS [support.microsoft.com]

Wish I could help more specifically, but like I said, it's been a few years.
